Community Volunteer

I joined Whiteshill and Ruscombe Parish Council in 2010. I moved to the Village in 2005 and I really wanted to help out in the community.
I work on several committees including planning, playing field and the Events Committee. In the 4 years I have been a Councillor I have helped to implement many changes including the introduction of a reduced speed limit throughout Randwick, Ruscombe and Whiteshill.

One of my roles on the Parish Council includes being the Village Snow Warden, this involves liaising with Glos Highways and important village amenities during periods of bad weather, and coordinating volunteers and task groups to help clear snow from important areas and liaising with vulnerable residents.

I became a School Governor at Whiteshill Primary School in 2010 and it's a role that is very rewarding and interesting. I don't have children at the School and being a non parent gives a whole different and valuable perspective to the Governing Body.

I am very interested in British wildlife and animal welfare, during the Badger Cull Pilots in Gloucestershire in 2013 I became a Wounded Badger Patroller. I later became the leader of GABS (Gloucestershire Against Badger Shooting) Legal Liaisons Team.

In May 2014 I was very honoured to be nominated for a Stroud Community Hero Award, for my work at Assured Mobility in Stroud. The Awards are run by Stroud Town Council and are a way to highlight the people in the Town that go the extra mile to make Stroud unique.
